Your 30s – too old for learning to draw?

Ahhh…the 30s. I feel like being in my 30s is like being a teenager again but I get to have enough money to live my dreams.

I am unsure if this is the same if you have kids because we do not have them but I feel this is so awesome but also sometimes overwhelming. As a woman, who accepted herself as an artist in her late 20s (29-ish to be exact), these years were very interesting, full of growth but also full of challenges. I had to understand that it is not too late for me to give my dreams a chance and this came with a storm of repressed trauma and inner critic thoughts.

Why starting your art journey in your 30s it is not a waste of time:

  1. You get to buy all the art supplies you always wanted when you were little. This helped me a lot in healing my inner artist and understanding that art supplies mean nothing in the drawing process. Practice is everything.
  2. You know yourself and this will reflect in your art – this will also mean that your self-esteem is unshakable so the mean comments should not impact your will of learning. As someone who started drawing 10 hundred times, it feels like now this will stick with me.
  3. The learning resources are easier to find and you can afford classes and books. This is amazing and the hobby is so much more enjoyable 🙂
  4. You have control over your time and you can decide how much you can prioritise for this activity.
  5. You own that to yourself. This is something that will help you know yourself better and it can also be a therapeutic tool.

Please, do not bury this dream. Do this for yourself. Below, you also have the video version of this article.

Thank you!
